Cross Training and Fitness Exercise

Benefits of Bodyweight Training

Every good trainer knows that You don’t need expensive gym equipment to get in shape.  At Fitness One, our Cross Training and Fitness programs utilize a lot of bodyweight training, which is being shown over and over again to be the safest most effective way of training.

A Great bodyweight exercise routine does not mean you cant use any equipment-In Kernersville at Fitness One Training Systems We utilize the TRX Suspension trainer, resistance bands, ViPR Training, battling ropes, kettlebells and much more. For this article, we will be referring to exercise machines and the Old School "Bodybuilder" type routines that many of us trained with years ago, and unfortunately many who don't understand the difference continue to do today.

Cross Training and Fitness Exercise with Bodyweight

Any good program should start with a full assessment, movement screening, flexibility and mobility testing, check for balance of muscle groups and be performed by a certified Personal Trainer, or ATC. After that, we can begin a Cross training program.

Fitness and Exercise Tips for Beginners

Here are some basic tips to consider when starting a bodyweight training program.

Visit your doctor. The last thing you want is an injury. Just like any other workout program, it’s best to pay a visit to your doctor for a physical before beginning to train with your bodyweight. This will help to ensure you don’t injure yourself and end up worse off than before.

    2.     Tracking Tracking. A major part of any bodyweight workout program should be keeping track of the number of reps and the type of exercises you’re doing. This way, you can measure your progress and feel good about where you’re going.

     3.    Be sure not to overdo it. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of starting a new workout program and forget you may not be fit enough to handle it. Start off slow and work your way up.

     4.   Work at your level.   The last thing you ever want to do is jump head first into someone elses program. Fitness can and never will be a "one size fits all" workout. Do what you can do.

     5.     Do a workout you will like. Everyone has parts of their workout they dread but make sure you have something you love as well.
A little more intensity each week. Just because you’re not lifting weights doesn’t mean your workouts are gonna be easy.  Make sure you’re actually pushing yourself to work at a level that will give you great benefits.

    6.     Nutrition is the key. No matter what you are doing, it's calories in/calories out. Your Fitness One trainer will help you with a plan.

    7.     Hire a trainer. Some people just will not push themselves to work hard at the gym or at home. If you know you’re that type, let one of the Certified Personal Trainers at Fitness One help you with your exercise program.

    8.   Don't make excuses. Our classes will keep you going, and will help you get the results you deserve. Just show up-And don't come up with excuses why you can't!

Kernersville Best Fitness and Bodyweight Exercises

Here you are Kernersville, my top pics for Bodyweight fitness and exercise  training. I will be posting videos of these for our members only in the next few weeks so for this blog I will just list for you:

1. TRX Single leg lunge-A little more advanced, this move builds strength in the glutes, hamstrings and quads while promoting balance and stability

2. Strict form pull up-Chin up Exercise-Without swinging or jumping, this move builds the lats and pulling muscles like nothing else. We have a full pull-up progression series of exercises for those who cant do the pull up, but want to!

3. 24" Plyo box incline push up-Slow and easy, building strength in the chest, shoulders and triceps, while building core strength.

4. ViPR Side lateral hop-Incredbile for building coordination, getting card and working balance and agility

5. 24" Plyo box high Knee Runner-This one is a favorite. Cardio, quads, glutes, balance-did I say Cardio and Legs?

6.  Plank-The precursor to every back, hamstring and ab routine should be a simple plank. If you cannot hold it for 90 seconds you shouldn't be trying anything for the core with a weight involved. Every Fitness program should include many variations of the Plank.
